Sewing and Quilting Classes

Stitching with Jennifer and Carol

Stitch along with Jennifer and Carol and create wonderful embellishment for almost anything. The group will meet on the fourth Saturday of the month starting in February. There are 5 project options showcased in the store for you to work on or you can bring your own work and patterns Jennifer and Carol will guide you through it.

Quilt Beginnings

Designed especially for the "newbie to quilting". You will learn accurate cutting using a rotary cutter and ruler, sewing with a scant ¼" seam allowance, simply quilting and binding application all while creating a lovely table runner. First class is a discussion of fabric selection and machine use.

Hand Pieced LeMoyne Star

Learn the technique of hand piecing with this versatile block. This is a great scrap buster and entirely portable. You'll enjoy using this technique as you pass quiet time with creative hands. Learn to Paper Piece

Three blocks. Block #1 is a very easy introduction to paper piecing. Block #2 builds on the skills learned making block 1 and Block #3 is made in four sections so it is a bit more advanced, but completely doable.

This traditional Japanese stitching is both functional and decorative and began, it is believed, in rural Japan to extend the life and use of clothing. We will cover some of the history of Sashiko and explore many beautiful patterns developed over the years. Kit purchase required.

Free Motion Quilting for Beginners

Come and learn how to do free motion quilting for those people who want to move beyond "stitch in the ditch". We will be discussing and trying different technique, threades and needles.

Turkish Bed Socks

Make these fun bed socks that can be worn in bed or used as ankle style socks around the house. They make a fantastic gift, and use a small amount of yarn. A great way to use up your sock yarn, scraps too.

Knit and Natter – Social Knitting 101. Bring one of your current projects! Enjoy knitting and having a great chat with new friends. Have a cup of tea or coffee on us!

Demonstration with Susan Madu – Come and join Susan Madu for a demonstration of quilting techniques and look at some of the new fabrics. There is no cost for this session, but signup beforehand is required.

Knit with Lisa – Have a knitting project that you are stuck on. Are you having trouble with a stitch, reading a pattern or finishing? Come join Lisa and work on those projects. She will help you out with your problems. We will meet the third Wednesday of the month starting in September. Come once or every month! This group will be moving to the 4th Monday of the month starting in February

Wild Rose Stitchers, a chapter of The Appliqué Society (TAS), meets on the third Wednesday of each month in Addie's classroom for a day of appliquéing and sharing tips and techniques. Members work on projects of their own choice including many of the appliqué kits and class projects available in the shop. Meetings start at 10:30 and go until midafternoon. Bring your own lunch or take advantage of one of the take-out restaurants in Cochrane. The chapter invites all adults from beginner to expert.



Registration Policies
Pre-registration is required for all classes.
Classes are reserved on a first-come basis.
Payment is due in full at the time of registration.
We give a 15% discount on all class supplies.
Please mark your calendars with your class times. We will not be responsible for missed classes.

Cancellation Policies
Addie's reserves the right to cancel a class if we haven't met our minimum enrollment seven days prior to class. If we cancel a class, we will gladly refund your class fee. If you cancel up to seven days prior to the start of the first class, a class credit will be issued. We will not issue a refund or credit if you cancel less than seven days before the start of the class.

Classroom Etiquette
Please refrain from using perfume and turn your cell phone off.
Please leave your children at home while attending a class.
Please ensure your sewing machine is in good working condition.
Please purchase class supplies before class time.
Please arrive 15 minutes early to set up.
All classes will start promptly at the designated time.

We offer in-store machine servicing by GPO Services – usually the first
Wednesday of the month.
Please register in store to confirm your service appointment.
